Găletida is a mythical ancient city lost under the water. It is believed that the Găletidians had technology so advanced that their buckets surpassed any that had previously been made, except for those made by Bucket Saint Radu.

Culture

Language

Although the Găletidian language remains undeciphered, some frequently repeated words are believed to be names, and one of those names was thought to be Radu.

History

In ancient times, Găletida was the greatest city in the world, possessing technology so advanced that it surpassed even that of the present day in some fields, especially the art of bucket-making.

Cataclysm

The reason for the city's downfall remains unknown, but it is believed to have stood for a thousand years in greatness and prosperity before becoming corrupted by a pursuit of technological progress fuelled not by love and compassion, but by greed.

The Găletidians became obsessed with crafting buckets greater than any other and even attempted to craft buckets greater than Radu's. This was believed to be the last straw. When Găletida cracked, great celebrations were being prepared, but never took place. It is believed that Radu punished the Găletidians for their heresy and arrogance by exposing the imperfection of their skills and mocking the quality of their most important bucket, Găletida itself. The bucket they considered indestructible was shown to be fragile.

It is unclear whether the Găletidians succeeded in making a bucket greater than Radu's before their downfall. Some say that they did and that this was the reason for the planned celebration, while the faithful consider such a claim impossible and heretical.

Discovery

In 2023, Radu Găletaru discovered the Lost City of Găletida at the bottom of the lake in Enada, directly beneath his lake house. The discovery was believed to be fate rather than coincidence. As a result, Radu began to uncover his mystical powers and realised his connection to the buckets, as the Găletidians were believed to have possessed technology so advanced that their buckets surpassed any that had ever been made, except for those made by Radu himself. In Bucketist tradition, this was the moment when the veil was lifted and Bucket Saint Radu's sainthood took shape.

Legends

Chalice of Găletida

Some legends speak of a magical artifact known as the Chalice of Găletida, which is said to possess the power to grant its owner immortality. Many have sought this artifact, but none have found it.

Some believe that Radu of Enada found the chalice and that this is why he ascended to sainthood and became Bucket Saint Radu.

Clairvoyance

According to legend, the Găletidians could foresee the future and knew about Bucket Saint Radu, predicting that he would eventually find their lost city long after its inevitable downfall. Some more extreme ideas suggest that their knowledge of Radu predates the city itself, and that they left their homeland and the surface world to build Găletida in Radu's name and honour. This legend suggests that the Găletidians faced great threats on the surface and that their migration underwater was their only chance of survival and salvation.

Time Travel

Radu's discovery of Găletida has led to theories about the city and its inhabitants, including the idea that Bucket Saint Radu's Ark, constructed near Naoi, shortly after Radu left Enada, can sail through time. According to this theory, it was sent to Găletida during the Cataclysm to save its buckets and the inhabitants who remained faithful. The ark's ability to travel through time remains unproven, and, even if it can, it is unknown when or where the buckets and survivors of Găletida were sent.

Layout

Găletida was said to have been shaped like an upside-down bucket. This was considered poetic because it meant that the greatest city was itself a bucket that gave life and created a habitable environment in an otherwise inhospitable one.
