Ciupitism (Low Nucian: Çupitism) is a religion that values physical connection and humour. It is the official religion of both Nucilandia and The Brotherhood of the United Blocks. The religion is centred around the worship of Ciupitu, who is considered the main god of Ciupitism.
Ciupitism emphasises the importance of humour and physical connection, with the act of pinching serving as a way to connect with the divine and with other followers of the religion. Although Ciupitu denies his own godhood and tries to hide from those who believe in him, the religion continues to thrive and spread throughout the world.

Ciupitism is based on the belief in the divinity of Ciupitu, also known as The Pinched One, who is believed to be the most pinched of all. The name Ciupitu itself means "The Pinched". The religion holds that by pinching each other, followers of Ciupitism grow closer to His Holiness and shape themselves in the image of Ciupitu. Ciupitism emphasises the importance of physical connection and humour, with followers encouraged to pinch each other in a playful and unexpected manner.
Followers of Ciupitism are encouraged to spread the word of Ciupitu and to convert others through the act of pinching (Romanian: ciupire). They may also pinch fellow believers as a friendly gesture. Pinching can be performed in any manner and at any time, but it is preferably random and unexpected. Jokes regarding Vasile Ciupitu are always welcome.
Among the known commandments of Ciupitism are:
| English | Romanian |
|---|---|
| Thou shalt not have any Pinched other than me | Să nu ai alți Ciupiți înafară de mine |
| Thou shalt not take the name of Ciupitu in desert | Să nu duci numele lui Ciupitu în deșert |
The second commandment is interpreted both literally and metaphorically. Followers must not mock the name of Ciupitu, and must never utter His name in a desert, specifically the type full of sand, under any circumstance, lest His wrath be unleashed. Every other biome is permitted, but deserts are off-limits.
Ciupitism is a polytheistic religion, with Ciupitu being considered the most important and powerful god.
In addition to Ciupitu, the pantheon of Ciupitism includes various saints, such as the Bucket Saints, Radu and Bianca. The religion also recognises Îmhe and the Moon Lord as evil deities.
Although they are not gods, The Sun and The Holy Walnut are very important primordial beings in Ciupitism, and are widely worshipped by its followers, especially in Nucilandia.
The symbols associated with Ciupitu and Ciupitism include a gladiator's helmet, representing his power and resilience, and an index finger and thumb, representing the act of pinching. The colours red, gold and blue (in that order) are also often associated with Ciupitu, as it represents the flipped flag of Romania, just as it appears on Ciupitu's portrait.
The liturgical language of Ciupitism is Romanian, the language of its origin and the native language of Ciupitu.
One of its condemnatory liturgical texts is Atacatistul lui Ștefan57 (English: The Attackatist of Stefan57), written by Papa Lama at Hori's request following the aggressions of the Snagovian People's Republic against Nucilandia and the Brotherhood of the United Blocks. The text condemns Ștefan Marius Snagoveanu with five condemnations invoking shame, fear, oblivion, and the grievous pinches of Vasile Ciupitu. It is invoked every morning at the Church of Cratesia by Papa Lama himself.
The Cathedral of the Nation's Pinching (Romanian: Catedrala Ciupirii Neamului) is the first cathedral erected in honour of Vasile Ciupitu in Nucilandia, located in Solara. Architectural plans for the cathedral date as far back as 28 January 2024.
Its design featured a conical roof engineered to ascend uniformly and converge at a single high point near the heavens, providing the optimal form for Vasile to pinch it. During construction, Vasile performed the holy act of pinching, elevating the top of the dome into the sky. Architects then altered the blueprints to construct the 8 Pillars of Pinching (Romanian: cei 8 Stâlpi ai Ciupirii), keeping the dome's apex suspended in mid-air according to the divine will of the Pinched One.
The construction proved highly controversial, drawing parallels to the People's Salvation Cathedral (Romanian: Catedrala Mântuirii Neamului) in Romania. Citizens denounced it as "a meaningless extravagance" (Romanian: o extravaganță fără sens), especially following the cancellation of the Voivodal Hospital (Romanian: Spitalul Voievodal) to redirect capital to the cathedral. In Solara, both citizens and clergy were alarmed that Vasile's cathedral stands orders of magnitude larger than the Temple of the Sun (Romanian: Templul Soarelui), which previously appeared as a grand pyramid but now resembles a small hill, sparking severe social and religious tensions.
Ciupitu was first discovered in 2012 by Hori and Mib Boby, and this discovery is now known as The First Pinching.
He was a member of The Matza Party, also styled The Mâtza Party, which is the political party that Hori and Mib Boby were also a part of. However, he did not interact with the community much, if at all. This brought an air of mystery, which sparked great curiosity in the two. They tried to find an explanation, and eventually concluded that He was holy. Ciupitu later left that party, probably trying to hide from the two.
After Hori and Mib Boby departed and continued their lives, Ciupitu returned. Years later, Hori and Mib Boby remembered His embrace and His Holy Pinch, and went back to Him to greet Him and welcome Him into their lives again. He was surprised, despaired, and departed again.
Another important event took place in early 2023, when Ciupitu was re-discovered by the two, hiding under a new name, Angetenar. It is now regarded as The Second Pinching. He was the president of the UDE MEREU political party, which was very small and insignificant, apart from its amusing name.
The two decided to take over that party, which proved to be quite easy. Hori was elected as the new party president with overwhelming support due to their surprise coup. Once elected, his first actions were to change the name of the party to "Vasile Ciupitu", its logo to his old portrait from 2012, and the motto to "Poți fugi dar nu te poți ascunde" ("You can run but you cannot hide"). He later added "We're definitely not a cult" to that motto, as a joke.
Next, the party chose Ciupitu as the official candidate for running in the upcoming presidential elections. Ciupitu accepted the nomination, but later turned it down and left the party, together with the other original members, leaving the ones that joined for the coup as its only members. The departure shocked Mib Boby and Hori as much as their return had shocked Ciupitu, and they felt a great pinch down to the bone, one they would never forget. They did not intend to leave Him again. The two joked about which political party he would join next, and that whichever it was, they would take over that one too.
In the morning of 12 April 2023, Mib Boby discovered by chance that Ciupitu was now a member of the Templierii political party in eRomania, as well as its military unit of the same name. This came as a huge surprise, as Mib Boby and Hori used to joke that Ciupitu might join Templierii, but did not really believe it would happen. Mib Boby immediately reached out to Hori to let him know.
Hori responded and immediately began planning the course of action. He had vowed some time earlier that if Ciupitu joined Templierii, he would return to eRepublik, join that party as well, take it over, change its name to Vasile Ciupitu, and replace its logo with Ciupitu's old profile picture. Hori and Mib Boby then spoke by telephone and began shaping a plan for a future party-president election. Mib Boby would reach out to his contacts and encourage them to join Templierii and vote for the takeover effort. Hori, for the first time, considered creating clone accounts to obtain additional votes, while attempting to avoid detection and vote invalidation.
Mib Boby and Hori felt betrayed, but did not lose hope in Ciupitu, instead holding Templierii accountable. Templierii had been a powerful group in Romania in eRepublik for approximately a decade, and had long resisted efforts to eliminate its influence. Hori became determined to see the party taken over, assured Mib Boby that it would be done through any means necessary, and considered failure unacceptable. The plan was considered a large undertaking that would probably take months, but its motivation and stakes were considered high because Ciupitu was regarded as far too important to lose.
If they are to succeed with their plan, that event would become, officially, The Third Pinching.
