Bucket Saint Radu

Religion Ciupitism
Domain Buckets

Bucket Saint Radu (Romanian: Sfântul Găletar Radu), who was Radu Găletaru before his ascension, is a revered figure in the Way of the Bucket, a philosophy within Ciupitism that venerates the bucket as a symbol of purity and enlightenment.

He is known for his bucket-making skills, discovering Găletida, and potentially also for finding the Chalice of Găletida. He is Bianca's lover, and she helps him by filling his buckets with water. He crafted so many buckets and constructed so many modest homes that one popular saying claims: "Nobody can make greater buckets or uglier houses than Radu does".

Mortal Life

Radu Găletaru used to be a firefighter before ascending to sainthood. This is believed to have been no mere chance, as his occupation was closely related to the mystical art of bucket-making. As he extinguished fire in life, he crafted and filled buckets with water after his ascension.

Homes And Contraptions

During his stay in the mortal realm, Radu had many homes. They were all modest, minor, and ugly, but their number compensated for their simplicity. They were initially considered random structures without specific purposes, but later bucketological study concluded that they had specific roles in the manufacture and distribution of buckets throughout the world, through both legal and illegal means. It is believed that everything Radu did had an important purpose, although not everything is yet understood.

One contraption near Radu's lake house in Enada is believed to have served as a bucket shop. It was constructed in a prime location, in perfect alignment with a future pier constructed nearby much later, and is made from many birch trapdoors. Its meaning remains unknown.

The contraption has been entombed near Hori's island in Enada, where Hori served as Palatine. It was conserved carefully without any visible mark on the surface, so that no one can access it until it is fully understood and can be preserved completely.

Găletida

Radu found the Lost City of Găletida in 2023 at the bottom of the lake in Enada, directly under his lake house. The discovery was interpreted as fate rather than chance, and as the moment when his sainthood took shape.

Some legends claim that the ancient Găletidians foresaw Radu's arrival long after their city's downfall. More extreme versions say they knew of Radu before Găletida itself existed and constructed the city in his name and honour.

Radu's Ark

Radu also constructed a great vessel, Radu's Ark, near the capital of the Brotherhood of the United Blocks, shortly after leaving Enada. Its purpose is unclear. Some consider it a transport for buckets to the capital, while others believe it is a time-travelling vessel sent to Găletida during the Cataclysm of Găletida to save the buckets and those who remained faithful.

Criticism

Radu was heavily criticised by Andrei of Enada, who compared the style of his buildings to Zaganian architecture and called him an "architect for Zaganian buildings". This sparked tension between the two, with Radu taking great offence at the insult to his proud abodes and barely refraining from smiting Andrei with one of his buckets.

Some say that Andrei conspired with the Zaganians during the Zaganian Wars of Enada, by allowing them to steal Radu's flying house, as he had long wanted to tear it down but was not permitted to do so by the local authorities, who considered it a protected historical heritage site.
