Horidava (German: Hörisburg, colloquially: Hori's Castle) is a large castle located on a small island in the Pontic Sea in Nucilandia. The castle stands as the main residence of Hori, the Great Walnut of Nucilandia. Built in multiple stages, the castle has undergone substantial development throughout its history.

Name

The name "Horidava" derives from a combination of two elements. "Hori" refers to the name of the castle's lord, Hori, while "dava" originates from the Nucian and Dacian words for "fortified settlement".

The castle is colloquially referred to as Hori's Castle by the general population, highlighting the strong association between the monarch and the grand structure he established. Before it was rebuilt into the current grand castle in December 2021, it was commonly known as Hori's Fortress.

History

Horidava was initially established as a small stone fort in 2014, offering limited yet very capable defenses and facilities. Over time, it underwent several transformations to become a larger fortified stone and wooden keep in 2017, and eventually replaced again with the present-day fortified castle in December 2021. The construction of the castle required the establishment of the Newport colony in August 2014 in order to provide the necessary resources to support its development.

Annexation of the Underwater Stronghold

In 2015, an underwater stronghold was discovered very close to the island, originally built and owned by the sea people. It was quickly attacked and annexed by the forces of Horidava. The population of the stronghold was enslaved and the resources produced by their labour were utilised most notably to enhance the architecture and design of the fortress and the other buildings under its domain, but also for export.

The layout and looks of the stronghold were greatly altered after the conquest. A lot of time and resources were spent in order to drain all of the water, and to connect it to the underground tunnel system of Horidava. This process rendered it uninhabitable for its original inhabitants, who were restricted to a small aquarium in one of the stronghold's corners, that serves as a factory. Flags were installed in many places, to show dominance and assert the Nucilandian rule.

The stronghold is located to to the north-east of the castle, near the fishing platforms and the small island with the iron mine.

Layout

The Castle

The castle showcases a magnificent medieval Germanic architectural style. It dominates the entire island, which has been extensively excavated and filled with underground structures and tunnels. Despite the limited size of the island, the castle and its underground complex house numerous rooms, facilities, farms, and industries.

The Domains

The island is connected to another smaller island by a bridge, which hosts a small farmland and a watchtower that also serves as the entrance to an underground staircase leading to a small underwater town. This underwater town includes a small forest, additional farms, several houses, and the first experimental launch pad of the Nucilandian Space Program.

Another nearby island, accessible by boat, houses a watchtower and an iron mine. Additionally, there is a collection of fishing docks and buildings situated over the water, facilitating the fishing industry.

To the west of the main island, an underwater train tunnel connects it to yet another small island with a forest and farmland.

The Vault

The underground of Horidava encompasses an immense storage complex known as "The Vault". This complex serves as the great treasure hoard of Hori. It houses a vast array of goods and wealth, handles by an advanced automated system that sorts and stores any item into its appropriate container.

Transportation

All the islands under its domain are interconnected through a network of underground tunnels. Due to their isolated location, the only other alternative to reach these islands from the outside world is by boat, ensuring enhanced security and privacy for the castle and its surroundings.
